What is Holi Phagwa?

Holi-Phagwa or Phagwa, Phagawan, Phaguaa is a Hindu festival that is celebrated annually around the month of March and is in fact a combination of a spring festival, a festival of the victory of good over evil and a New Year's festival.
According to the Gregorian calendar it is celebrated in spring and in the Hindu calendar it is celebrated on the day after the full moon of the month of Phaalguna.
This festival is also named after this month,
Phagua or Phagwa. Holika dahan takes place on the day of the full moon.
The people count down from ten to 0 and then the party starts, bags of color powder fly into the air everywhere and everyone starts to cheer. The Holi festival is celebrated with singing and dancing, refreshments, sprinkling of colored powder, perfume (Goellaal) and the sprinkling of colored water (Abier).
