Pitra Paksh pooja explanation

Meaning of Pitru paksh?

Pitra Paksha is a period of remembrance for our ancestors, a powerful occasion to pay homage to those who have gone before us. During the 15 days of the dark half of the moon in the month of Ashwin (September-October), Pitra Paksha is known as a time to settle our debt and express love to our departed ancestors.

Each of us is born with three duties:
1. Honor the gods.
2. Expand your knowledge.
3. The debt to the pitras (parents) is the greatest, because parents are our visual gods and have made unforgettable sacrifices for their children.

This debt can be settled by giving devotion and gifts (shraad) in the name of devotion to Brahmins (scholars) or people who are truly in need. The departed pitras feel honored and bless those who show this devotion with happiness and prosperity. It is believed that our departed ancestors feel honored by this devotion and bless those who show it with happiness and prosperity. Pitru Paksha reminds us that honoring our ancestors is a valuable practice that can bring blessings and spiritual fulfillment.
